Octogenarian artist Audrey Flack has always been a trailblazer. In the intimate portrait of her life and work - QUEEN OF HEARTS: AUDREY FLACK - she returns to the canvas for the first time in decades, revealing her longtime struggles as an artist and mother to find her rightful place in the art world.
Flack enjoys the distinction of being the first photorealist painter whose work was purchased by the Museum of Modern Art for its permanent collection. Among the major museums around the world, her work resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. "The film is about believing in yourself, it's about recognizing what it is to need to do something." -The Fordham Observer
We have a rather remarkable documentary beginning next Wednesday, 11/18. BORN TO BE follows the work of Dr. Jess Ting at the groundbreaking Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery. The film offers an intimate look at how one doctor's work impacts the lives of his patients as well as how his journey from renowned plastic surgeon to pioneering gender-affirming specialist has led to his own transformation. "Deeply moving and humane. [It] distinguishes itself with its sensitive portrait of Dr. Ting...and his diverse patients who yearn merely to live in a body that reflects their inner identity." -The Hollywood Reporter
