Rocky’s Review
Nature

Nature, in all its dramatic splendor, bursts forth in the Rose and Rosebud beginning this Friday. Through the eyes of scientists and mycologists, FANTASTIC FUNGI takes us on an immersive journey into the magical world beneath our feet. It's a world of remarkable beauty and intelligence, offering therapeutic solutions to pressing environmental and medical challenges. "One of the year's most mind-blowing, soul-cleansing and yes, immensely entertaining triumphs." -RogerEbert.com

Water is the main character in AQUARELA. Director Victor Kossakovsky takes us on a deeply cinematic journey through the transformative beauty and raw power of Earth's most precious element. From the precarious frozen waters of Russia's Lake Baikal to Miami in the throes of Hurricane Irma, the film is a wake-up call to the sheer force and capricious will of H20. "One of the most frightening and persuasive movies I've ever seen about the destruction created by climate change." -RogerEbert.com

THE BOWMAKERS shares the Rosebud screen with AQUARELA, and the British thriller OFFICIAL SECRETS, starring Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes shares the Rose screen with FANTASTIC FUNGI.

Two special events are taking place Sunday. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) presents their annual free movie to the community. THE PUBLIC is a story about homelessness and the many challenges faced by people leaving on the margins of society.

Author and dancer - and former Port Townsend resident - Mary Lou Sanelli visits PT on her book tour for "The Star Stuck Dance Studio of Yucca Springs." Her reading will be preceded with a dance performance by Salina Treider, Shanta Corra and Stephanie Cain. These events are free, and first-come, first-seated.

LINDA RONSTADT: THE SOUND OF MY VOICE moves up the Starlight Room Friday. Hitchcock's THE WRONG MAN (10/30) is already sold out, and tickets are going fast for PILLOW TALK (11/13).
