Last week's bountiful line-up of international cinematic treasures just got bigger. The fabulous touring version of the Northwest Film Forum's Children's Film Festival arrives at the Rose this weekend (3/19 - 3/20), with family-friendly treasures from Croatia, India, Japan, Argentina, Russia, Mexico, Germany, and the Netherlands. Kudos to Liz Sheperd of the NWFF for assembling another stellar collection for curious minds of all ages. Only two more days left to catch THE LADY IN THE VAN, SON OF SAUL, BOY IN THE WORLD and THE WAVE.
The truly mesmerizing EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT opens in the Rosebud Cinema this Friday (3/18). "This transcendent masterwork is a near-religious experience." (Awards Circuit). RAMS, a wonderful comedy from Iceland about two and four-legged creatures opens in the Starlight Room as matinees only. "Wryly wonderful." (Variety). Michael Moore's most passionate WHERE TO INVADE NEXT holds over for one more week in the Starlight as evening shows only.
And Hollywood has served Jesse Owens well with the heartfelt RACE, which opens in the Rose.
And our first of two showings of the National Theatre of London's production of AS YOU LIKE is this Saturday at 11:00. The Sunday Times of London called it "an irresistibly funny production. A delight."
See you at the Rose, and the Starlight.
