Rocky’s Review
Race To Alaska & Veronica Lake

We have high seas adventure and a bewitching sorceress for you this week.

When I asked Samantha Ladwig, co-owner of the wonderful Imprint Bookstore, if she'd like to select and introduce a movie for the Starlight's Classics Night series, she jumped at the opportunity to share I MARRIED A WITCH (1942), starring Veronica Lake and Fredric March. It's a quirky screwball comedy with Lake playing the charming vengeful sorceress; a comic confection bursting with playful special effects and sparkling witticisms. Trailer. As with all Classics films, tickets are going fast.

And here's something else equally bewitching - at the screening of I MARRIED A WITCH we'll be having a drawing for a free one-year Rose Theatre membership.

There's a ruckus about to erupt at the end of Water Street. Yes, it is time once again for the start of the Race to Alaska. But if prefer your high seas adventure from the comfort and safety of the Rosebud or Starlight, then join us for the great documentary THE RACE TO ALASKA, directed by Zach Carver. Carver has expertly captured all the excitement of this wonderful, crazy event.

And be sure to top off your high seas viewing by watching MAIDENTRIP, the story of 14-year-old Laura Dekker who became the youngest person to sail around the world alone. You'll find the movie in our Film Library.
