Actors renowned in theatre and film, those new to the silver screen, and a host of talented singers an dancers will join Steven Spielberg and his crew in bringing a new adaptation of the original, beloved stage musical from 1957, WEST SIDE STORY to the cinema. A musical in which a modern day Romeo and Juliet are involved in New York street gangs - the Sharks, a Puerto Rican gang, and the Jets, a gang made up of "American" boys.

The film's music team includes renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who will helm the recording of Bernstein's iconic score; Academy Award-nominated composer and conductor David Newman who will be arranging the score for the new adaptation; Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori, who will be working with the cast on vocals; and Grammy-nominated music supervisor Matt Sulivan, who will serve as exectutive music producer for the film.
